Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ripped into Ivanka Trump for trying to talk with some world leaders during the G20 Osaka Summit.
In video released by the French presidential palace, Ivanka — who works in her father’s administration as an adviser — mingled with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund.

“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” the New York Democrat tweeted, adding “the US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either.”

Other Twitter users criticized Ivanka for being at the summit.

What is an unpaid, unvetted, unelected, no actual job description relative doing attempting to conduct United States business?
This is not acceptable or ethical.
Nepotism is not appropriate. https://t.co/VKDQsVFCL8

The White House describes Ivanka Trump’s job as focusing “on the education and economic empowerment of women and their families as well as job creation and economic growth through workforce development, skills training and entrepreneurship.”
