Steve Bannon isn’t done trolling Democrats: ‘Leftist elites do not value history’

Steve Bannon isn’t done bashing the Left just yet.

In an email sent to the Washington Post, Bannon, the White House chief strategist, said the Democratic Party has demonstrated no ability to learn from its mistakes made during the 2016 presidential election.

“This past election, the Democrats used every personal attack, including charges of racism, against President Trump. He then won a landslide victory on a straightforward platform of economic nationalism,” Bannon wrote. “As long as the Democrats fail to understand this, they will continue to lose. But leftist elites do not value history, so why would they learn from history?”

Bannon has been on somewhat of a tear this week, appearing in multiple news reports Wednesday, one day after President Trump appeared to leave Bannon’s position in the White House in question. “We’ll see what happens with Mr. Bannon,” Trump told reporters gathered in Trump Tower in New York City, while also complimenting him as a “good man.”

Bannon participated in a wide-ranging interview with the American Prospect, in which he undermined Trump’s plan to deal with North Korea, saying “there’s no military solution here, they got us.” He also said the “fringe’ far-right who rallied in Charlottesville were ‘a collection of clowns.”

While it was reported that Bannon didn’t realize his chat with the American Prospect journalist would be turned into an interview, Bannon later defended the interview with the liberal magazine as one that “drew fire away” from Trump, he told Daily Mail on Thursday.

Bannon also told the New York Times on Wednesday that Trump would benefit politically from his much-criticized response to the violent Charlottesville, Va., rally organized by white nationalists, claiming that liberals are engaging in “race-identity politics.”
