With no TSA agents present, 11 unidentified travelers were able to walk through security at JFK Airport in New York Monday morning.
According to the New York Daily News, TSA left the area open and unattended at 6 a.m. at Terminal 5. In addition, it took TSA officials two hours to notify the Port Authority Police Department of the breach.
When Port Authority officers were able to go to the terminal, none of the travelers were to be found. Sources told the New York Daily news that a security camera showed the metal detector going off three times as travelers walked through.
The investigation into the breach is ongoing.
A TSA spokesman did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
