Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., has started a group called Truth Fights Back, an organization designed to build up Kerry’s direct-mail donor list — er, I mean, to advocate for climate legislation. The group presumptuously tasks itself with “restoring truth to the energy and climate change debate.”
This afternoon, Kerry sent out a fundraising e-mail titled “Jim Inhofe vs. YOU,” noting Inhofe’s recent appearance in Copenhagen:
A day after I was in Copenhagen to underscore that the Senate is back in the game on climate change, and a day before President Obama was the first President in 17 years to roll up his sleeves and attend the climate negotiations, Senator James Inhofe flew to Copenhagen to say – and I quote,
“John Kerry was here yesterday and said we will pass something …that is binding and is going to be cap and trade. That is not going to happen. I know John Kerry wants it to happen, but it is not going to happen.”
Two points:
1. passing climate change and energy reform won’t happen because I say so, it’ll happen if you demand it and dig in like you’ve neve done before
2. this is the start of a big battle — when I sent you the email announcing TruthFightsBack yesterday i didn’t know we’d be getting a great example of why we need it so quickly.
