Puppy tossed during fight, injured
Two Annandale residents were charged with animal cruelty after a puppy was thrown out of a window and injured.
Fairfax County Police were called to domestic situation in Lincolnia area Friday and discovered that a six-month-old puppy was allegedly tossed from a second story window during the argument.

The dog suffered a broken front paw. He was taken into custody by Animal Control officers and given medical attention. He may be put up for adoption.
Terrence G. Merritt, 41, and Latoya Grant, 24, were both charged with animal cruelty.
Police-involved shooting victim ID’d
The man fatally shot by D.C. police Monday has been indentified as 58-year-old Robert L. McFarlin Jr. Police said McFarlin called police to say he had killed his sister. When officers showed up at the Garden Village Apartments in Southeast Washington, police said he refused to put down his knives. Two officers fired three rounds. Police said his sister was not harmed.
Accountant sentenced for nonprofit embezzlement
A 34-year-old accountant has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for embezzling $570,000 from two Washington nonprofit associations where he worked. Charles Clifton, formerly of D.C., admitted to embezzling $425,000 from the American Society for International Law from 2004 to 2008 and $145,000 from the American Bakers Association between 1998 and 2004.
13-year-old girl struck by car dies
A 13-year-old girl hit by a car as she tried to cross the street to board a school bus has died. Prince George’s County police and fire officials say Ashley Davis was among seven people injured Sept. 1 in Temple Hills when a Lincoln Continental struck her, then hit a minivan and another teen walking on the other side of the street. Ashley died Monday.
