Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, an outspoken ally of President Trump, has accused Michael Cohen of having extramarital affairs.
The former personal lawyer for Trump and longtime fixer is preparing to appear before the House of Representatives Oversight Committee on Wednesday. He has been married to Ukraine-born Laura Schusterman since 1995 and the couple has two grown children, Samantha and Jake.
Cohen’s attorney fired back at what he called Gaetz’s “despicable lies and personal smears.” Cohen and his attorney have accused Trump and his new personal lawyer, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, of intimidating Cohen and personally targeting him personally.
“Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends?” Gaetz on Friday. “Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat.”

When pressed about the tweets by Vox, Gaetz implied that there would be another wave of deeply personal remarks made about Cohen on Wednesday when Cohen, 52, is due to testify.
Cohen’s father-in-law, Fima Shusterman, has been the subject of Trump’s criticism for months. Shusterman reportedly lent millions to a Chicago cab company owner who was mentioned in the FBI warrants for the raid of Cohen’s home and office in April last year.
Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis said in a statement that they would not respond to Gaetz’s allegations, “except to say we trust that his colleagues in the House, both Republicans and Democrats, will repudiate his words and conduct.

Cohen is facing a three-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to giving Congress false information and separately pleading guilty to campaign finance violations related to hush-money payments on behalf of Trump to porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who alleged they had affairs with Trump. He was originally scheduled to appear before the committee earlier this month, but he and his lawyer were allowed to postpone the appearance after the Trump and Giuliani remarks.
