Yes, you read it right. Last night MSNBC’s Chris Matthews went for the cheapest shot possible (and most inaccurate, historically) against Mitt Romney. In a conversation about where the presumptive GOP presidential nominee stands on a range of issues, Matthews did his best to sneak in a shot on behalf of the DNC. Former GOP Chairman Michael Steele was not having any of it though.

Steele: I resent that. Come on now, what is this Grand Wizard nonsense? Are you saying—
Matthews: Okay, I’m just saying the far right party—
Steele: Are you saying that we’re Ku Klux Klan? Come on, give me a break. Don’t go there with me on that. Alright?
