Nikki Haley, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said Monday that an investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 elections is “absolutely” necessary.
“I think we absolutely need the investigation,” Haley said in an interview on NBC’s “Today.”
“I think that all these questions need to be answered so that the administration can get back to work,” she continued.
Haley’s thoughts on the FBI’s investigation into whether Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election came just days after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein named former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to lead the investigation.
The move from the Justice Department prompted a sharp rebuke from President Trump, who called the investigation “the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history.”
On Friday, the Washington Post reported that the investigation has expanded to a “person of interest” working in the White House.
That individual has not been identified.
