Trump: Clinton is being ‘decimated’ by the media

Donald Trump has made no effort to hide his disdain for the media, but he now seems to appreciate how the press has been covering his Democratic opponent as of late.

“She’s been decimated by the media!” the Republican presidential nominee tweeted Thursday morning, shortly after Hillary Clinton fielded questions from reporters during an impromptu press conference in New York.

“Hillary just gave a disastrous news conference on the tarmac to make up for poor performance last night,” Trump added.

After being chided for months for refusing to face reporters beyond agreeing to sit-down interviews, Clinton has allowed her traveling press pool to pepper her with questions at several points this week.

Her press conference on Thursday came hours after she and Trump squared off during the first ever Commander in Chief Forum, after which she was criticized for making a bold promise to not put troops on the ground in Iraq and offering a new defense of her private email practices.

Earlier Thursday, an adviser to Trump called Clinton’s press conference “desperate” and accused her of trying to divert attention away from her performance in the forum.

The New York Times described Clinton as “stilted” when one veteran, who held a top-secret clearance, confronted her about her handling of classified information, while other reporters said she appeared “defensive” and delivered rambling answers presumably to limit the number of questions she faced.
