HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police have captured four robbery suspects atop a school building and brought them down with help from a fire truck ladder.

Lt. Larry Crowson says dogs helped track the suspects early Monday to the roof of the Charles R. Drew Academy several hours before classes began.

Patrol officers noticed two pickup trucks with apparent steering column damage parked along a road, then four young men ran into some nearby woods.

Police suspected the vehicles were stolen and went after the suspects, locating them on the roof of the closed school. The suspects surrendered with their hands up, then climbed down the fire truck ladder. Formal charges are pending.

The academy is part of the Aldine (AHL’-deen) Independent School District.
