WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) — Waynesboro has received its first brownfields funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Regional administrator Shawn M. Garvin says the city was awarded two $200,000 grants to assess 17 potentially contaminated properties for cleanup.

Garvin says in a news release that the funding will support Waynesboro’s downtown revitalization plan.
