Donald Trump is known for picking a fight with his Republicans, but the billionaire has his sights set on a new target, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.)
The billionaire criticized his debate performance in multiple interviews including Good Morning America, where he said Sanders should have attacked Hillary Clinton for her e-mails rather than being magnanimous.
At his rally in Richmond, Va. on Wednesday, Trump had some select words to describe the Vermont senator.
“I watched Hillary last night (saying) we’re gonna give this, we’re gonna that, we’re gonna give that,” Trump said at the rally. “The poor woman, she’s got to give everything away because this maniac that was standing on her right is giving everything away so she’s following.”
“That’s what’s happening,” the billionaire continued to wild applause. “This socialist slash communist, okay, nobody wants to say it.”
Trump’s campaign also released an ad on Instagram slamming Sanders as a weak leader who couldn’t defend the country from foreign enemies including ISIS.
“The world is a dangerous place, we need a tough, strong leader,” the ad voiceover said and then cut to a video of Sanders surrendering his microphone to #BlackLivesMatter protesters. “And it’s not this guy.”
It’s ironic that Trump calling Sanders a “maniac,” “socialist/communist,” and weak is getting more attention than he’s ever garnered from Hillary Clinton.
