Kasich joins the attack against Trump over Muslim comments

Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich joined the attack against Trump’s criticism of the parents of a Muslim soldier who died in Iraq, tweeting out that the parents of those killed in action must always be treated with respect.

“There’s only one way to talk about Gold Star parents: with honor and respect,” Kasich tweeted. Hillary Clinton soon retweeted Kasich’s message.

Kasich was defeated by Trump during the Republican primaries in a bitter battle that ended with Kasich refusing to endorse Trump and declining to attend the Republican convention, even though it was held in his state.

The parents, Khizr and Ghazala Khan, appeared at the convention as part of the Democrats’ political strategy against Trump. Trump noted that Ghazala did not speak, a suggestion that maybe she had been forbidden because she is a Muslim woman.
