Embattled TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz argues the charges that he is a quack are attempts to impinge on his First Amendment rights to freedom of speech.
“We will not be silenced, we will not give in,” Dr. Oz said in a clip late Tuesday of a show scheduled to air Thursday.
A group of prominent doctors wrote to Columbia University asking for Dr. Oz to be removed from the faculty. The doctors were upset that Oz has peddled unsafe supplements and made inaccurate claims surrounding the safety of genetically-modified crops.
Things got worse for the self-proclaimed “America’s Doctor” when emails surfaced he agreed to promote products made by one of the show’s producers Sony.
Oz said on Facebook earlier this week that he isn’t against genetically modified foods, he just wants them labeled as such.
The Thursday show will offer more rebuttal to the criticisms, according to CNN, which first reported the clip.
Dr. Oz’s show is very popular, drawing in nearly 2 million viewers a day.
