The 45th season of NBC’s Saturday Night Live saw a big drop in ratings compared to last year’s season premiere.
The weekly sketch comedy, which featured a surprise appearance by Alec Baldwin as President Trump, saw a drop in both overall viewers and those in the crucial 18-49 demographic.
The show saw a 15% decrease in overall viewers and a 30% plunge in the younger demographic when compared to the 2018 season premiere.
The “cold open” focused on the ongoing impeachment inquiry into the president over allegations of wrongdoing by an intelligence community whistleblower.
In addition to Baldwin playing Trump, the opener featured cameos from actors playing Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, musician Kanye West, boxing promoter Don King, Vice President Mike Pence, and Attorney General William Barr.
