Ivanka Trump’s kids demand vegetarian Thanksgiving after White House turkey pardon

Ivanka Trump’s oldest two children have requested a break from a traditional turkey Thanksgiving dinner following their encounter with the two birds pardoned by President Trump this week at the annual ceremony held in the White House’s Rose Garden.

“After watching their Grandpa pardon ‘Peas’ and ‘Carrots’ at the White House on Tuesday, Joseph and Arabella have sworn off turkey and are insisting on a vegetarian Thanksgiving! Gobble, gobble,” Ivanka Trump, a key administration official and first daughter, tweeted Thursday.

President Trump used the turkey pardon to crack jokes about Democratic recount efforts in the 2018 midterm elections and poke fun at House Democrats’ promise to launch investigations into him and his White House when they regain control of the lower chamber in January.

After receiving their presidential pardons from Trump, Peas and Carrots will retire to “Gobblers Rest,” a facility hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.

Ivanka Trump has three children with husband Jared Kushner, a fellow administration aide: 7-year-old Arabella Rose, 5-year-old Joseph Frederick, and 2-year-old Theodore James.

The family is celebrating Thanksgiving with President Trump at his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida.
