Podesta: Sanders unlikely to ‘win big’ on Tuesday

Hillary Clinton’s senior adviser predicted Sunday that rival Bernie Sanders is unlikely to pull off any big wins in the five primaries scheduled for next Tuesday, a result the Clinton campaign is “looking forward to.”

“He’s got to win and he’s got to win big, and we don’t think he can do that,” John Podesta, who serves as chairman of the Clinton campaign, said of the Vermont senator during a radio interview Sunday morning with former New York mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis.

“So we’re looking forward to that,” Podesta added.

Podesta continued, “I think we’re in very good shape to have her be the first woman nominee to a major party ticket in this country.”

“We can have a really, really good day next Tuesday,” he said.

Clinton currently leads Sanders in each of the five states — Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut and Maryland — where Democratic voters are slated to cast their ballots on April 27. Wins in those states could put Clinton at on the cusp of securing the Democratic delegates she needs to secure the Democratic presidential nomination.
