Trump praises Fox News for running ‘the real story’

President Trump on Monday cheered a Fox News report that quoted an anonymous source who said well-known and high-ranking intelligence officials released the identity of Trump’s associates for political purposes.

“Such amazing reporting on unmasking and the crooked scheme against us by @foxandfriends. ‘Spied on before nomination.’ The real story,” Trump tweeted.

Trump followed up that tweet with two others that attacked Hillary Clinton and her former campaign chairman John Podesta.

“Was the brother of John Podesta paid big money to get the sanctions on Russia lifted? Did Hillary know?” Trump tweeted.

Tony Podesta’s consulting firm, the Podesta Group, is a part of a federal probe into whether U.S. companies helped aide corruption in Ukraine during a previous, Russian-backed administration that was overthrown in an uprising in 2014. Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort’s lobbying firm is a part of the same investigation.

Trump also rehashed the controversy involving former Democratic National Committee official Donna Brazile, later the interim leader of the party. She told Clinton campaign officials about topics that were coming up in a presidential primary debate with Sen. Bernie Sanders, and just recently acknowledged apologized for it.

But Trump said Clinton never apologized.

“Did Hillary Clinton ever apologize for receiving the answers to the debate? Just asking!” Trump tweeted.

Trump later again praised Fox News for their report.

“.@FoxNews from multiple sources: “There was electronic surveillance of Trump, and people close to Trump. This is unprecedented.” @FBI,” Trump tweeted.
