The effectiveness of the two barriers and their ability to prevent the coronavirus has been called into question, and they certainly didn’t stop an onslaught of jokes about the barriers during some of the more heated exchanges of the debate.

Pence, who leads the White House’s response to the coronavirus, reportedly did not want a barrier on his side, and his role during the pandemic was not lost on Twitter users, some who started a #PlexiglassPence hashtag.
