Trump smokes challengers in Cigar Aficionado poll

Cigar smokers overwhelmingly back Donald Trump for president, giving him more votes of support than any other Republican or Democratic candidate, according to a new Cigar Aficionado poll of 7,500 readers.

The magazine said that Trump won the online poll with 37.8 percent followed by Sen Marco Rubio, 22.9 percent, Sen. Ted Cruz, 21.5, Ohio Gov. John Kasich 3.1, and Jeb Bush 2.9.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton edged out Sen. Bernie Sanders, 46.6 percent to 41.5 percent.

“Trump garnered more votes than any other candidate, regardless of party,” added the magazine on its website CigarAficionado.com.

“This is a profoundly vital—and unique and unpredictable—election year, and our poll demonstrates that the economy and terrorism are at the top of cigar lovers’ minds,” said Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Cigar Aficionado.

The readers also picked issues they are most concerned about, with the economy the run-away winner, followed by terrorism and government regulation.
