New polls reveal that only 17 percent of millennials agree with Hillary Clinton’s radical views on abortion.
Clinton, who vowed to “always stand with” Planned Parenthood earlier this year, believes in abortions on demand throughout the course of the pregnancy, including the third trimester, saying abortion is a “woman’s right.”
On Thursday, Students for Life of America released data from a poll conducted earlier this year to gauge whether millennials supported abortion and the taxpayer funding of the practice. The poll showed that only 17 percent of millennials shared Clinton’s extreme views. It was conducted on the heels of the Center for Medical Progress videos that exposed Planned Parenthood for selling the body parts of aborted babies.
“Planned Parenthood would have the nation believe that young women are fighting with them on their extreme abortion agenda but that’s not the case,” Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, said. “We wanted to see where millennials stood at this point in time.”
The polling revealed a problem regarding the label “pro-life.” While 53 percent of millennials agree that abortion should be illegal, only 36 percent described themselves as pro-life. This means that millennials are either misinformed as to what being pro-life means, or they do not want to associate themselves with the label.
“Planned Parenthood only has 275 campus groups and Students for Life has 1,043,” Hawkins continued. “Additionally, we have found that only 17 percent of millennials hold the extreme view on abortion – that it should be legal at any time for any reason – as Hillary Clinton, who Planned Parenthood militantly supports.”
Regardless of the hesitancy of millennials to accept the pro-life label, this poll reveals that millennial views of abortion are not as radical or as common as those of the presumptive Democratic candidate.
