Donald Trump Jr. shot back at the New York Times on Twitter on Wednesday for being “surprised” that he took commercial flights from New York to the Yukon Territory in Canada, and sat in economy class.
“Why is this hard to believe?” Trump Jr. tweeted, linking to the Times’ article.

Members of the Trump administration have drawn the attention of the media and the president in recent weeks for questionable air travel habits.
Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price has reportedly racked up $300,000 in costs for private jet flights combining both personal and official business. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin also reportedly considered the use of a government plane for his European honeymoon and did use a government plane for a trip to Kentucky with his wife on the same day as the solar eclipse in August, a trip which is now being investigated by a government watchdog.
The New York Times Magazine reports that on Sept. 14 Trump Jr., sans Secret Service detail, took Air Canada flights in economy class from New York’s Laguardia Airport to Vancouver, and then to Canada’s Yukon Territory for a hunting trip.
Trump Jr. was reportedly accompanied by two unidentified males, an “older guy” and “a young kid, maybe early 20s.”
New York Times Magazine writer Luke Dittrich was able to track down and speak to Trump Jr. at the end of his hunting trip as the trio waited to depart Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport in the Yukon on another commercial flight bound for Vancouver.
When asked by Dittrich if he bagged anything during the hunt, Trump Jr. responded “I can’t really tell you that … Let’s just say it was a good hunt.”
Dittrich reports that Trump Jr. did in fact take down a large moose during the hunting getaway.
