Sen. Tim Kaine said Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump could be the “maniac” who causes something terrible to happen in the world during the vice presidential debate Tuesday.
Kaine recalled former President Ronald Reagan’s words about one person triggering devasation across the globe.
“Ronald Reagan said something really interesting about nuclear proliferation back in the 1980s,” Kaine said. “He said the problem with nuclear proliferation is some fool or maniac could trigger a catastrophic event. And that’s who I think Gov. Pence’s running mate is.”
Pence scolded Kaine.
“Senator, senator, that was even beneath you and Hillary Clinton,” Pence said.
