Better beware the wrath of Kahn

What are the Minnesota Timberwolves doing?

According to Yahoo! Sports, president David Kahn plans to fire coach Kurt Rambis sometime after Thursday’s NBA Draft. Why the wait?

The team failed to make any official announcement of its future plans with Rambis before the draft but didn’t want its coach to have any part in the decision to select forward Derrick Williams with the No. 2 pick. Not exactly an endorsement for Rambis.

Having a lame duck coach while holding the highest draft pick in franchise history shows the dysfunction of this organization.

Kahn has a history of making questionable decisions around draft time. Two years ago, the Timberwolves drafted back-to-back point guards with the Nos. 5 and 6 picks — Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn.

Flynn has failed to live up to expectations, and Rubio just joined the team last week.

Being in the draft lottery seemingly every season has left the Timberwolves with a talented young nucleus. But with Kahn still making the roster decisions, can anyone truly foresee the Timberwolves being successful?
