Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who is no stranger to controversy, said halfway through Tuesday night’s Democratic primary debate that “ISIS” was the real winner of the event.
The baseball announcer has been indefinitely suspended from ESPN since August, when he tweeted a meme comparing Muslims to Nazis. “The math is staggering when you get to true #’s,” Schilling said at the time, in reference to the population of Muslim extremists.
Schilling added fuel to the fire Tuesday when Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump asked his followers who they thought was winning the Democratic debate.
Who is winning the debate so far (just last name)? #DemDebate

Within seconds, Schilling responded: “ISIS.”

Despite being one of the first to respond to the billionaire on Twitter, Schilling previously said he not would support Trump as a candidate following the businessman’s remarks about Arizona Sen. John McCain’s war hero status.
