WATCH: Congress sings God Bless America on Capitol steps

While participating in a moment of silence to mark the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11, members of Congress broke out singing God Bless America.

The moment of silence was in remembrance of when nearly 3,000 people were killed after 19 terrorists hijacked and flew airliners into the World Trade Center twin towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a field in Pennsylvania.

In attendance was Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and House Whips Steny Hoyer and Steve Scalise.

The moment is reminiscent of when members of Congress began singing God Bless America after holding a press conference outside the Capitol building on that tragic day.
