Poll: Clinton leads Trump in Virginia, Colorado

Hillary Clinton maintained her lead over rival Donald Trump among voters in toss-up states Virginia and Colorado, a Fox News poll released Wednesday evening found.

A net 44 percent of Virginians picked the presumptive Democratic nominee compared to 40 percent of Old Dominion residents who chose the GOP candidate in the July 9-12 poll. It’s a 3-point jump for Trump, according to the Real Clear Politics average where he has 37 percent of voter support.

Trump’s catch-up in Virginia may be linked to his wins against Clinton on policy issues. Voters chose Trump as the candidate who would do a better job on the economy, curtailing illegal immigration, reining in government spending and handling terrorism.

Colorado voters awarded Clinton 44 percent of support, putting her 10 points ahead of Trump who finished with 34 percent, a 3-point dip below the RCP average.

The polls were conducted by phone with registered voters in both states and had 4 percent margins of error.
