The Uvalde, Texas, mother who gained fame after sharing her harrowing story of rescuing her two children from Robb Elementary School during the May mass shooting claimed police are harassing her.
Angeli Gomez has spotted marked police vehicles parked near her location even weeks after the shooting and alleges that officers are still watching her. Gomez is choosing to speak out about it to local news outlets in hopes that the behavior stops.
“They said they could arrest me for tampering with an open investigation of an active shooter,” Gomez claimed.

As a result, Gomez hired attorney Domingo Garcia.
“I think she has been a victim of terrible injustice — and, frankly, intimidation — with people under the badge for telling the truth and her story of trying to save her kids,” Garcia said.
Gomez was initially arrested at the scene when she attempted to intervene while a mass shooter was on the loose at her children’s school. After police released her, she jumped a fence and entered the school, returning with not only her own two children but all the children that were with them at the time. Ultimately, 19 children and two adults were killed during the shooting, which left another 14 wounded.
Uvalde schools Police Chief Pete Arredondo has since resigned from his position on the City Council but retains his position with the department amid ongoing controversy surrounding the police response to the shooting.
