A man shot to death while holding his 2-year-old son in his arms declined protective services offered by prosecutors when he agreed to appear as a witness in a double homicide trial slated for February, authorities said.

Nicoh Mayhew, 25, who was gunned down in Seat Pleasant on Wednesday morning, was scheduled to appear in Prince George’s County District Court on Feb. 19. He was expected to be a witness for the prosecution in the trial of his cousin, a co-defendant in a double homicide, according to Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks.
