Pro-lifers at the National Right to Life Convention were pushing back at the Democrats’ “War on Women” messaging, saying that the left really doesn’t care about women.
“This is crazy, a lot of the leaders of the pro-life movement are women,” said Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee. “I’m a woman. Why would I engage in a ‘War on Women’?
“We need to speak up and be very blunt that this is not a ‘War on Women’; we are talking about protecting unborn children.”
The real “War on Women” is coming from the left and its refusal to acknowledge that women are being harmed, hurt and even killed in some cases by abortion and abortion-inducing drugs, she said.
“We need to talk about protecting women,” Tobias said.
Women have more protections when they have their gall bladders removed or have any other surgery than they have when they go for an abortion. Doctors inform women of possible complications for virtually all medical procedures, but Tobias argues that the left’s resistance to provide accurate medical information to women proves they don’t care about women’s health despite claims to the contrary.
Abortion is the least regulated major medical procedure in the United States, according to Tobias.
“We can’t tell them that there’s an increased risk of breast cancer; no, we’re supposed to keep them in the dark,” Tobias said. “I really think that if a woman is hurt or injured in the process, they don’t care.”
Tobias also decried Planned Parenthood’s new high-tech use of the Internet that allows an abortion provider in one state to use Skype and other technologies to give a woman in another state abortion-inducing drugs.
These drugs have been shown to have serious side-effects in many women and has led to the deaths of 14 women since 2000.
“Why is it that they want to open it up so that people other than doctors can perform abortions?” Tobias asked. “They want to use the computer so that one abortionist can provide the chemical drug to women all over the country in other states, and I think that is because not enough doctors are willing to do abortions.”
She then tore into the Obama administration for funding the United Nations Population Fund, which subsidizes China’s forced abortion policy that forces women to have abortions against their will if they have had one child or lack the proper papers.
“Our opponents want people to believe that if you support any limits whatsoever on abortion you are waging a ‘War on Women’, and the bottom line for them is making sure that abortion remains legal with no limits.
“The unborn must be sacrificed at all costs, and if women get hurt in the process I really don’t think they care. There is nothing pro-woman about what they do.”
