The Bureau of Labor Statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor has released its state and nationwide unemployment figures for December.
Seasonally adjusted, Maryland saw its unemployment rate remain unchanged from January to February, remaining at 3.8 percent. The number is lower compared to December?s mark of 3.9, however, but slightly higher than last year?s 3.7 percent.
Unadjusted unemployment figure for the Free State actually saw a moderate drop for the month, finishing at 4.1 percent, a decrease of 4.4 percent from January but up .1 percent from the same time a year ago.
Across the country, the national unemployment rate remained unchanged from January to February, holding constant at 4.5 percent. Compared to last year, however, this figure is down .3 percent from 2006.
Over the last year, the jobless rate has declined in 33 states.
