The Senate healthcare bill is really unpopular: Poll

Only 17 percent of Americans approve of Senate Republicans’ healthcare bill, according to a new poll.

The poll released Wednesday from NPR, PBS NewsHour and Marist finds 55 percent of people don’t approve of the bill unveiled just last week and 17 percent approve of it.

The poll found 21 percent of Republicans disapprove of the bill disapprove of the bill and 35 percent approve of it.

However, independents and Democrats widely dislike the bill with only 13 percent of independents liking it and 68 percent disapprove.

Only 8 percent of Democrats approve of the bill and 78 percent don’t like it.

The poll comes out a day after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell decided to scrap a vote before the July 4 weeklong recess because there weren’t enough votes.

The poll was conducted June 21 to 25 and had 1,205 respondents with a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
