On this day, May 30, in 1997, the son of Time Warner Chairman Gerald Levin was tortured and killed by his former student.
Authorities said ex-student Corey Arthur and an accomplice bound Jonathan Levin with duct tape in his New York apartment and cut the 31-year-old public school teacher with a kitchen knife to make him reveal the PIN for his ATM card. To cover the screams, they turned up the stereo.
