2 convicted in cocaine-trafficking ring

A federal grand jury in Alexandria convicted two men of trafficking cocaine throughout Northern Virginia.

Jamin Oliva-Madrid, 30, of Chantilly, and Esteban Salguero-Ortiz, 41, of Philadelphia , were convicted Thursday of conspiring to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and could face life in prison.

Prosecutors say Oliva-Madrid used his business, JD Granite Countertops, as a front for the drug-trafficking ring. The business served as a stash house to store the cocaine before it was distributed to dealers throughout Loudoun County, Alexandria and elsewhere in Virginia, authorities say.

A total of 16 people have been charged in the conspiracy. Two men, including one of Oliva-Madrid’s brothers, were sentenced last week.

Oliva-Madrid and Salguero-Ortiz are scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 14.
