Singer John Legend endorses 10 candidates for county attorney positions

Singer John Legend endorsed 10 candidates for several county attorney and prosecutor positions Monday.

Legend wrote that people preparing to cast their ballots for the midterm elections should not forget how important it is to vote in “down-ballot races,” such as county, district, and state attorney or prosecutor.

“Abortion, slavery & other important issues may be [on] your ballot,” Legend wrote in a Twitter thread, linking a USA Today article. “Voters in 5 states — AL, LA, OR, TN & VT — can #EndtheException and remove language from their state constitutions that allow enslavement or servitude as punishment for crimes.”

Eight of the 10 are seeking county or district attorney positions: Julie Gunnigle (Maricopa County, Arizona), Pamela Price (Alameda County, California), Allison Miller (Pinellas and Pasco Counties, Florida), Kimberly Graham (Polk County, Iowa), Rahsaan Hall (Plymouth County, Massachusetts), Mary Moriarty (Hennepin County, Minnesota), Joe Gonzales (Bexar County, Texas), and John Creuzot (Dallas County, Texas).

Wesley Bell and Leesa Manion are running for prosecuting positions in St. Louis and King County, Washington.

Some of the candidates, such as Graham, Miller, and Hall, highlighted Legend’s endorsement on their Twitter accounts.

“Onward to justice for ALL,” Graham wrote. In another post, she wrote, “We need your help to win on Nov. 8th. Then comes the hard work of reforming our justice system.”

“Thank you!” Miller wrote. “Your support is much appreciated.”

“Thank you for your support!!” Hall wrote. “Honored to have you on Team #Hall4DA.”
