A 91-year-old woman who was found dead Friday in Georgetown was murdered, D.C. police said Sunday. Viola Drath of Northwest D.C. was found unconscious in the 3200 block of Q Street near 32nd Street, then pronounced dead.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled on Saturday that her death was a homicide.
The German-born journalist and playwright came to the U.S. when she married a U.S. Army colonel after World War II and had been a prominent figure locally and in German-American circles.
No arrests had been made Sunday evening, police said. They ask anyone with information about the case to call the police at 202-727-9099 or 888-919-CRIME. Tipsters may be eligible for up to $25,000 in rewards.
