Westport Academy students name city streets

Students at the Westport Academy, a Baltimore City public school for students in prekindergarten through eighth grade, named four new city streets in their neighborhood.

The schoolwide competition focused on originality, creativity and a reflection of the neighborhood, and was held by the developer of the Westport Waterfront neighborhood, Turner Development Group.

The streets will be named Carr Lowrey Way, Green Port Street, Middle Branch Avenue and Prosper Street.

Deontray Conyers, a sixth-grade student; Lauren Hill, a fifth-grade student; Essen Cammon, a prekindergarten student; and Raneir Schefield, an eighth-grade student, suggested the names, respectively.
