Mike Lee: September’s continuing resolution vote ‘the last stop on the Obamacare Express’

According to Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), Republicans have one last chance to get rid of Obamacare, but it’s going to be risky.

The junior senator from the Beehive State and a few of his cohorts have a plan to derail Obamacare through the vote on the continuing resolution that will keep the government afloat past September 30, which he discussed on Fox News’ “Hannity” Tuesday night. He said that those who are truly dedicated to stopping the Obamacare train wreck would “commit to vote against any [continuing resolution] that contains Obamacare funding,” including this particular CR.

“A few of us in Congress are saying, ‘look, we’re not going to fund Obamacare’,” he said. “You can criticize us all you want, but we’re not going to pass a continuing resolution or other appropriations measure that includes funding for ongoing further enforcement and implementation of Obamacare.”

Lee also stressed that despite what the liberal media is reporting, Republicans aren’t planning on shutting down the government when that day comes.

“We don’t want that, we don’t need it, we can avoid it, we will avoid it,” he stated. “We want to keep everything funded in the government–everything except Obamacare.”

While Lee didn’t contest that politicians in Washington are divided on certain issues, he said that the biggest problem is when political parties are divided from the American people.

“When we put forward big new programs like Obamacare, that divides American,” he said. “That’s bad, and we have to not fund it.”
