BOLTON, Mass. (AP) — Andrew Ference turned up at the Boston Bruins annual charity golf tournament wearing his NHL Players Association cap.
He said he was ready for the season — or anything else.
The Bruins returned to town this week for the start of training camp. Rookies were scheduled to start Friday, with veterans joining them Sept. 21.
But the collective bargaining agreement expires Saturday, and negotiations on a new one have stalled. Ference says players were willing to keep working under the terms of the old deal, which is the one owners wanted when they locked players out for the entire 2004-05 season.
Goaltender Tuukka Rask says he’s heard people talk about the season starting a month or two late.
But he says no one expects it to start on time.
