NFL leaders want teams to discriminate against white candidates — as long as it’s not them

The NFL’s racial obsession continues, with white coaches demanding that owners hire more black coaches, so long as they don’t lose their own jobs.

According to USA Today, Andy Reid (Kansas City Chiefs), John Harbaugh (Baltimore Ravens), Pete Carroll (Seattle Seahawks), and Frank Reich (Indianapolis Colts) all demanded owners “only look beyond the color of these coaches’ skin” while demanding that owners hire coaches based solely on their skin color. According to the report (written by social justice crusaders Nancy Armour and Mike Freeman), Carroll, a white coach who was at some point hired, asked owners what was wrong with them for not hiring black coaches. Presumably, he did this without even a scintilla of self-awareness.

Of course, none of those coaches will resign their positions to make way for black candidates, nor did they stand down during their respective hiring processes to let black coaches get their jobs. Funny how that works.

The Colts interviewed Leslie Frazier for the head coaching job in 2018 before choosing Reich. Does Reich intend to shame his own team for perpetuating racism by choosing him, a white man, over a black candidate? Or is it possible that Reich was the right choice?

According to USA Today, some executives also joined the pro-discrimination chorus, but all three of them hired white coaches the last time their teams had a vacancy. Colts general manager Chris Ballard hired Reich in 2018 over the aforementioned Frazier. San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch hired Kyle Shanahan in 2017. Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman hired Nick Sirianni last year. Like the coaches they hired, all three of those executives are white, and none are resigning their post for a black candidate to replace them.

These coaches and general managers, along with the NFL itself and media outlets such as USA Today, are calling for more discrimination, not less. They want teams to make decisions about who will lead them on the field or in the front office based entirely on skin color, which is why media outlets cry foul over every firing of a black coach and every hiring of a white one. There is no scenario in their mind in which a white coach can be hired or a black candidate can not be chosen for a job that isn’t racist.

Now that these general managers and coaches have made it, they want NFL teams to discriminate against all white candidates coming up behind them. They will hold on to their own jobs, to be sure, because they don’t want to be the white employees who get replaced. They want someone to hire a black coach or executive, just so long as it isn’t them.

This is racism, not progress, but racism is what sports media and the NFL want to promote. Qualifications don’t matter to them so long as the candidate has the right (or wrong) skin color. The NFL intends to take our country backward on race relations one hiring at a time, even if the league is made up of hypocrites who don’t really care about the “progress” they lecture everyone else about.
