Former Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu is the latest politician to speak out against former President Donald Trump and his recent dinner with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.
Netanyahu, who is expected to return to his position as prime minister soon, condemned West and the antisemitic statements he made in October, adding that he believes Trump’s decision to dine with the rapper was “wrong and misplaced.” Despite his criticism of the former president, Netanyahu expressed his gratitude for Trump and his support for Israel while he was president, including his recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, he said in an interview with journalist Bari Weiss.
“So I think he made a mistake,” Netanyahu said. “I hope it’s not repeated. That’s all I can tell you.”

Trump and West dined together on Nov. 22, with the two joined by Nick Fuentes, an antisemite and Holocaust denier. The news of their dinner together went viral, as the dinner was held only one week after Trump announced his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election.
Many Republicans have condemned Trump for his dinner with West and Fuentes, including former Vice President Mike Pence, House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT). McConnell has questioned if Trump is eligible to run in 2024 over the dinner, while Romney stated that Trump dining “with those people was disgusting.”

Trump has defended his dinner in a Truth Social post, claiming that it was “quick and uneventful” and that West “expressed no anti-Semitism” while appreciating “all of the nice things he said about me on ‘Tucker Carlson.'” He also added that he did not know who Fuentes was, a statement Fuentes confirmed.
