FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police are warning motorists that troopers will be out in “full force” during the New Year’s Eve holiday.

State police say the enforcement period begins Friday at 6 p.m. and runs through Tuesday at 11:59 p.m.

Trooper Michael Webb says state police plan to use checkpoints, patrols and targeted enforcement to find and remove drunken drivers from the roadways.

Last year, traffic crashes killed six people and there were 63 alcohol-related crashes in Kentucky during the New Year’s Eve holiday period.

Citizens can report erratic drivers to state police by calling 800-222-5555.
