Baltimore police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a series of armed robberies in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

The suspect attempted Tuesday to rob the 7-Eleven convenience store on the 200 block of East 28th Street, but became startled by an off-duty Howard County police officer who walked into the store, police said. Believing the suspect was a shoplifter, the officer attempted to grab the robber, but the suspect pointed a small-caliber revolver at the officer’s chest and ran from the location, police said.

About 30 minutes later, the suspect successfully robbed the 7-Eleven store on the 6300 block of Sherwood Avenue in Baltimore County.

Police said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP or the city’s robbery unit at 410-366-6341.
