Stephen Moore said he’s willing to withdraw nomination to help GOP senators

Stephen Moore, President Trump’s controversial nominee for the board of the Federal Reserve, said Friday that Republicans should not “walk the plank for me.”

“If I do become a liability to the Republicans, I would withdraw from the race,” Moore said in an interview with Fox News.

Moore’s nomination came under fire after a column from 2002 resurfaced where he said there should be “no women anything” in men’s sports.

Moore co-authored a book in 2018 with Arthur Laffer titled Trumponomics in support of Trump’s economic policy positions on taxes and trade.

“If this a debate about my economic credentials and economic record, I’m going to win 55 to 60 votes,” Moore told anchor Neil Cavuto, adding he thought his character was being assassinated.

On Monday, Herman Cain, the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, declined his nomination by Trump to the Federal Reserve board after stiff opposition from Democrats and a handful of Republicans to his nomination.
