Kentucky Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo plans to request a recanvass of all voting machines and absentee ballots across the state following his one-point loss in Tuesday’s Democratic Senate primary, a source told POLITICO.
With nearly all precincts reporting, state Attorney General Jack Conway had 44 percent of the vote to Mongiardo’s 43 percent. Under Kentucky law, candidates have until the Tuesday after an election – in this case May 25 – to request a recanvass of voting machines and absentee votes, which county clerks would conduct on May 27.
