Rand Paul uses New Year’s resolutions to attack Trump, Cruz, Rubio

Sen. Rand Paul on Friday used New Year’s Day as an opportunity to issue resolutions taking shots at his Republican rivals for the presidential nomination: Donald Trump and Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.

In a series of tweets, Paul attacked Trump for speaking in “vague but bombastic generalities,” hit Cruz for copying his positions, and jabbed both Rubio and Cruz for missing Senate votes.

He also made an apparent joke about Cruz being born in Canada, writing, “Hopefully @TedCruz will resolve to issue that exec order declaring Canadian “bacon” is not real bacon. #StillSuspicious

In addition, he vowed to fight “tooth and nail” against President Obama’s planned executive action on gun control.
