Protesters against Donald Trump descended on a Washington, D.C., hotel on Tuesday to voice their disapproval as the former president returned to the nation’s capital for the first time since leaving office.
The Marriott Marquis hotel is hosting the America First Policy Initiative event, where Trump will be delivering a speech.
The protesters appeared to be chanting, “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA.”

Trump’s return to the district comes on the same day former Vice President Mike Pence delivered his own speech at Young America’s Foundation’s annual conference, which was held a couple of blocks away from the White House on Tuesday morning. Pence and Trump have not remained allies since Pence refused to block the certification of the 2020 election results.
During his speech, Pence asked the attendees at the event to look to the future instead of the past, a possible dig at the former president, who has pushed unfounded claims since leaving office that he won the last presidential election.

Both Trump and Pence are seen as possible candidates for the GOP nomination in the 2024 presidential election. Trump told New York magazine this month that he has made up his mind concerning the next presidential election and only has to choose an announcement date, including before November’s midterm cycle. Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s former campaign manager, claimed on Monday the former president “would like to announce today” that he is running in 2024.
