Silver Spring teen killed leaning out truck window

A 19-year-old from Silver Spring was killed when he hit a telephone pole while leaning out the window of a friend’s truck, Anne Arundel County police said.

Police said the 2004 Chevy truck was traveling east on Governor Bridge Road near Patuxent River Road on Monday evening when the four teenage occupants began waving to friends on the side of the road. David Hepner was leaning out the window from the waist up, and was killed when the vehicle side-swiped a telephone pole.

The driver, 18-year-old Taylor Bennett,of Edgewater, and two 19-year-old other passengers, Julia Rubin of Silver Spring and Amanda Scott of Edgewater, were not injured, police said.
