Sen. John McCain’s campaign was probably trying to go folksy in his “complete the danged fence” ad, which highlights his 10-point plan to cope with illegal immigration. But folksy seems to work more effectively when you’re Sarah Palin.
When you’re McCain, you just get laughed at by the folks on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
After airing the ad on Thursday morning’s show, former Republican Rep. Joe Scarborough loudly laughed and handed the floor over to Rep. John Shadegg, R-Ariz., who could barely respond.
“It seems like some politicians have changed ground on this issue,” Shadegg said.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski refused to even comment.
The ad shows McCain, looking mildly mavericky, walking alongside the border fence with Sheriff Paul Babeu discussing “drug and human smuggling, home invasions, murder,” and other problems the “illegals in America” cause. McCain then mentions his plan, which includes “complet[ing] the danged fence.”
Another oops? Think Progress reported that Babeu isn’t from a border county.
