Manny Adako made a layup with 25 seconds left gave Northeastern a 58-57 win over George Mason on Wednesday night in a game delayed 20 minutes when a Patriots’ player fainted on the court.
Late in the game, George Mason’s John Vaughan dropped to the court and was taken off on a stretcher. He had been involved in a collision under the basket moments before he “basically fainted,” as Patriots coach Jim Larranaga said after the game.

Northeastern’s Nkem Ojougboh stepped to the line for two free throws with 2:16 remaining. After Ojougboh made the first, Vaughan collapsed in the lane.
According to Larranaga, he was revived and his blood pressure and pulse were OK. Vaughan was taken for observation to Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where hospital spokesman Jerry Berger said he was in good condition.
“He’s awake and alert,” and has a headache, George Mason sports information director Richard Coco said. He said the first thing Vaughan asked about was the score of the game. Coco said the player was still being evaluated.
When the game resumed, Ojougboh hit his second free throw to give the Huskies (12-6, 7-1 Colonial Athletic Association) a 56-51 lead. The Patriots (14-4, 7-1 CAA) stormed back with six straight points Two free throws by Cam Long with 56 seconds left gave George Mason its first lead.
Following Adako’s basket off a pass from Baptiste Bataille, the Patriots had one last chance but turned the ball over.
Matt Janning led all scorers with 20 points for the Huskies, while Vaughan had 19 for the Patriots.
Northeastern, George Mason and Virginia Commonwealth are now in a three-way tie atop the CAA.
